 ‣ Sonam wangchuk was born in 1966.Sonam Wangchuk is an Indian engineer, innovator and education reformist

‣  Sonam wangchuk doesn't go school at the age of 9 year. Becauase school hasn't existed in the village. His mother taught him all the basics in his own mother tongue until that age

‣ They has completed their studies in stream of B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology Srinagarwen. They also went france for higher studies in the field of Earthen Architecture 


‣In 1988, after his graduation Wangchuk with his brother and five peers, started Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL)

‣ The first task is to convert and translate all the educational studies book with Ladakh education government on education field to their local regional language of Ladakh, this work done by sonam wangchuk and his students 

‣ So that no child has to face the language barrier. Complete your studies in your local and regional language only, so that you can do some innovative learning and progress in your life

‣ What things Make Unique SECMOL school ? Which is not taught in the rest of the school. This SECMOL school is mostly focused on teaching practical knowledge, and the most special taste is that here not only teachers but also children teach other children, and whether it helps to learn things quickly among the children. Can also learn more things.

‣ Earlier in Ladakh, where only 5 percent of the children of passed in 10th standard. But after the efforts of Sonam Wangchuk to improve an education system, now the number of children passing in 10th has increased by 75%.

‣ While India's literacy rate is 72.98%, the literacy rate of Ladakh is 77.8% after a few changes in the education system. This is the highest state in India. This is possible. Its credit goes to the education department and sonam wangchuk 


‣ After the reform by the work with governnent school at saspol. They started a compaign with (SECMOL) that name was ' New Hope' in collaboration with the government education department and the village population.

In 1993,Sonam wangchuk become editor of print magazine  Ladags Melong of Ladakh. To spread awareness about initiative works that has been starting.

‣ In late 2013,Sonam wangchuk invented ice stupa. he built artificial glacier cone that glacier stored waste stream winter water. During the winters is stand hard rock glacier. In the spring times Ice stupa glacier releases the water during late spring as they start melting, which is the perfect time when the farmers need water.

The (SECMOL) led sonam wangchuk designed shelter home on the hilly mountain areas like nepal, Sikkim, assam. These buildings  made of solar muds. So that save heat energy and implementing that energy keeping cool inner building at 45°C.And opposite side that solar shelter keeping hot climate in the  house on winter season at temperature - 30°c 

‣ SECMOL has won the International Terra Award for the best building in July 2016. 

‣ Due to contributions in the educational system.The government gave honour Governor's Medal for educational reform in Jammu and Kashmir, 1996
